What We Read this Week: Perfectly Pegasus

Have you ever wished on a shooting star? To be honest, I’m not totally sure that I’ve ever seen a shooting star before. I think there is just as good of a chance that what I saw was actually an airplane or a satellite. But next time I see one for sure I’m going to remember to make a wish!

This week’s book is all about making a wish! Perfectly Pegasus, by Jessie Sima, features a little blue Pegasus named Nimbus. Nimbus is lonely, and makes a wish upon a shooting star, wishing for a friend. She wishes and hopes that her dream will come true and that she won’t be lonely anymore. She then goes on an adventure and along the way, realizes that her wish has been granted in the most unexpected way.

The illustrations in this book are lovely and magical. The sparkles and glitter are nice, adding an element of fantasy to the cover. I love mythology, and this little Pegasus was fun to read about. The message at the end, that friends come in different shapes and sizes, is sweet and important. If you read this story and enjoy it, there is a similar book, Not Quite Narwhal, also by Jessie Sima that you will surely enjoy. We’ve read and enjoyed both!

Hoping that you enjoy your Saturday with books that you love. And if you happen to see a shooting star tonight, don’t forget to make a wish!
