The periodic table of elements is something that has always interested me. When I was in school, we had to memorize it. I remember walking around everywhere with a plastic placemat that had the periodic table on it, trying to learn them all. I did eventually memorize it, but now as an adult I’ve basically totally forgotten it 😂 So when I first read about this book, I was immediately intrigued. Dragons and the Periodic Table? A cute way to teach kids some science? That is something that definitely interested me and that I wanted to share with my kids. A book is much more fun than a plastic placemat 🙂 We received a copy of this book from author Sybrina Durant in exchange for an honest review, and we were excited to check it out!
Book Title: Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by the Elemental Dragons
Author: Sybrina Durant
Illustrator: Pranavva, et al
The Elemental Dragon Clan Alphabet Book introduces readers to 26 elements from the Periodic Table through the magical lens of the Elemental Dragon Clan. Each dragon member is linked to a specific element, with tails tipped with metals like Antimony and Zirconium. The theme “No Metal, No Magic. . .and No Technology” resonates throughout the book, making it clear that these elements are the foundation of both magic and modern technology.
The book kicks off with Antz, who introduces us to Antimony. Right from the start, the blend of scientific facts and cute dragons had my kids wanting to learn more. The fascinating facts continue all the way to the end, where Zora wraps things up with the metal Zirconium. Each page is brimming with amazing facts and fun information about the properties of these 26 elements.
This book is perfect for tweens, teens, and even adults who want to quickly and enjoyably absorb information about the elements of the Periodic Table. The inclusion of a magical, elemental-themed periodic table is a fantastic touch, providing a visual and thematic anchor for the learning experience.
- Educational Content: The book combines education and entertainment seamlessly, making it easy to learn about the properties of metals.
- Engaging Illustrations: The dragons are really cute, each with unique features representing their respective elements.
- Interactive Learning: The magical periodic table and fun facts on each page make the learning process engaging and memorable.
