For me, one of my favorite things to do on the weekend is read!
I love books. I guess that’s kind of an obvious thing, but reading and being surrounded with wonderful stories is so very important to me. Sadly though it’s a conversation that has gotten a lot more fraught lately.
For me, books have always represented a safe haven, a portal to a new place, a blanket of coziness. I know many people who relied on books growing up, not only for entertainment, but for company. To feel less alone, to understand that the world is very big and that there are people out there who are interesting and will be accepting of you—the role books play cannot be overstated. One of the most important goals of Colorful Swans Press is to publish books that are kind, and filled with love. Love for our authors, our readers, and especially for every marginalized person who reads a story and feels a little less alone.
Love has incredible powers. When we give love, it grows and spreads, making the world a happier place. Here are some ways that love makes everything better:
